Maternal and Newborn Care

Mayne Island does not have obstetric and midwife services. We advise expectant mothers to depart from the island at least two weeks before their due date, or sooner if their healthcare provider recommends, due to the complexities and uncertainties involved with air ambulance transport to the nearest maternity hospital.

New mothers with newborns should also consider staying off-island during the first week after birth to minimize health risks.

COVID Testing and Treatment

If you've tested positive for COVID-19 and need treatment advice, contact Services BC at 1-888-268-4319 (7:30 am-8:00 pm).

To schedule a vaccination, dial 1-833-838-2323. During office hours, the Mayne Island medical clinic and the ambulance station offer free COVID testing kits.
