Wheely Clean…would you use this service?

MIHCA has been working with “Wheely Clean” about the possibility of their Mobile Hygienist unit coming to Mayne Island. At our Wellness Roundtable last fall, this was one of the services people said would be a benefit to Mayne Islanders.

To make this a reality, we need to know from you as community members, if this is a service you would use. Wheely Clean needs a minimum number of clients to make it financially viable for them.

If you would use this service, please let us know by responding to: admin@mihcaboard.ca

Physician and Nurse Pracitioner Recruitment

Actively Recruiting an additional Physician and full time position replacement for the Nurse Practitioner for Mayne Island

With assistance and support from Dr. Losier and our Mayne Island Health Centre Association (MIHCA), Island Health is actively advertising for a Full Time Nurse Practitioner (to replace Leanne Rowand’s part time position) and an additional Primary Care Physician to augment existing health care provision on Mayne.
Recruitment ads have been placed in a number of professional journals and websites provincially and across Canada.

Realistically, it is likely to take some time to recruit either a Nurse Practitioner or Physician, but we’ll keep the community updated as we know more.

What will happen when one of these positions is filled?

If you were a patient of Leanne Rowand’s and you want to continue to be a patient at the Health Clinic you will be automatically absorbed by whichever new provider comes to Mayne first. People on the witing list will be next in line, depending on new provider availability, and gradually added as well.
New patients can register on the wait list through Health Link BC registry.

A message from Dr. Losier…Cognitive Behvioural Therapy

Do you need support during darker seasons? You can contact Dr. Losier / or your primary care provider / or TelusHealth for a Referral to this program.

As the colder weather settles in, patients may find they need more mental health support. With many spots available in our group programs, the CBT Skills Group Society is here to help!

In addition to our level one CBT Skills Foundations program, we now offer affinity Foundation groups (such as young adults and LGBTQIA2+). Additional level one programs include Raising Resilient Kids and ADHD Strategies for Adults.

Once patients complete the Foundations program, they can delve into our level two groups, such as Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy.
